    Posted: May-01-2011 at 4:11am
With the arrival of iFly I decided to do something I have always wanted to. The challenge of a real World Tour. Maybe not eactly a trip around the world, but via a few continents.

I want to share this challenge trip with you, fellow iFlyers. Time and life permitting, I am going to present short illustrated reports of particular legs.
It will take time as the number of planned legs is rather large.
The reports will be short and images will be rather small not to eat up too much of our common space which the Flight1 server is.

The number of legs is large due to the number of wonderful places and airports I would love to visit and present to you.
Moreover I need to fly in relatively short hops as my real life duties would not let me stay in the air for too long.
For the same reason I cannot promise I will report on a regular basis or I will actually finish all the tour. I will do my best though.

The choice of liveries was not easy at all. Finally I decided to fly with the orange Boeing Dreamliner livery.
It fits every part of the world equally plus it is my pay of respect to our marvellous artist Colin Lowe. Clap

Although I enjoy the art of screenshooting, please do not expect image masterpieces in the reports.
The purpose this time is to fly realistically, which requires my full attention and reducing display quality a bit.

First let me brielfy introduce the challenge plans (which might change in time). The starting point is Munich Josef Strauss airport in southern Germany.
The route will go through 31 countries in Europe, Asia and America. Here is a simple map showing the routes:

The choice of destinations is strongly based on
existing high quality addon airports, freeware and payware, which I do own or plan to buy now (in a few cases).
To be honest I do not enjoy flying into default or poorly made airports, so I never do it unless there is no choice. My airport collection has grown for years.

For all my flights I will use the following addons:
- iFly 737-800W (Dreamliner by Colin Lowe)
- FS2Crew (button edition)
- Active Camera
- FSRecorder 2.1
- Airport Enhancement Services (where applicable)
- Ultimate Terrain (Europe only)
- Ground Environment Pro
- FSGenesis mesh (plus hi-res freeware mesh packs)
- Real Environment Xtreme
- Pablo Diaz clouds (HDEv2)
- modified autogen buildings and trees (Treegen)
- custom AI traffic (WOAI plus own packages compiled with TTools)
- ActiveSky Evolution
- FSUIPC (latest and registered)

Flightplans are generated via vroute or made by myself in FSNavigator.

I hope you will enjoy accompanying me en route by having a look at the reports.
Thank you, iFly!

Great shots Rafal.

A quick question about HDE? Just confirming that you in fact meant to write v2.0?? Or is there a newer version that I am missing??

Cheers and looking forward to the next post!

Thanks for your interest, gentlemen.

I hope to present the second leg later tonight.
It's going to be a flight from Bucharest to Sochi on the Black Sea coast.

Thank you all for your kind words. I am really glad you enjoy reading my reports.

Bad weather spoiled my real life outdoor plans today, so I had some time to continue the iFly World Tour.
This time I overflew the Black Sea en route from the Romanian capital Bucharest to Sochi in Russia.
Sochi is a beautiful Russian resort city. Is it located between the sea and the tops of Caucasus Mountains.
It will be the host of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

OK, now back to flight BOE002.

The excellent freeware Sochi-Adler scenery (2007) is AES supported and it is available here:
http://www.avsimrus.com/f/fs2004-sceneries-44/sochi-2007-22108.html?action=download&hl=

A bit long report it seems, sorry guys for a bit of loading waiting...

Hi, folks!

I've just come back from the mountains, a bit tired but happy and full of potential energy.
I hope to fly to Armenia tonight and, of course, share the joy of aviator's discovery with you.

John, I hope you don't mind giving info about the addon airports used in my iFly tour even if they are payware?

Leg 3 - flight BOE003.

This time a very short hop from the Russian resort of Sochi to Yerevan - the capital city of Armenia.
A bit sentimental leg for me, as my father's ancestors probably came from Armenia.
Well, each of you could try exploring your family tree to find (or not) where your roots are. Wink

Yerevan is a beautiful city lying between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea (a huge lake rather against its name).
Armenia is a mountainous land with the volcanic summits of Ararat (heard the story of Noah's Ark?) visible in the background of Yerevan.
Yerevan itself is one of the world's oldest continuously-inhabited cities.

OK, off we go...

I think this is the most beautiful freeware scenery I've ever seen (with only Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg being comparable - both to come later).
There is currently no AES support unfortunately.

Here are the three links:

1. Yerevan area mesh - http://www.avsimrus.com/files.phtml?action=download&id=24766
2. The airport - http://www.avsimrus.com/files.phtml?action=download&id=16623

Thank you, thank you, Gentlemen!
Your kind comments are really making me ashamed. Embarrassed

To show you how nice it feels I am ready to present you LEG 4 of the iFly World Tour.
Flight BOE004 from Yerevan, Armenia to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

As some of you may have noticed from the tour map, I was going to fly to Tehran, Iran.
But I decided to skip this leg due to a few reasons and fly directly to the Middle East pearl of Dubai.

The Dubai airport scenery is the classic payware of FlyTampa, released 7 years ago but still nice!
I guess there will be a second version soon (they have been remaking their addons lately), but I couldn't wait with the tour.

The Burj Khalifa aka Burj Dubai skyscraper is a freeware addon by DSDG - get it from here: http://dsdg.webs.com/products.htm
EDIT: the DSDG website is not working for me at the moment, but keep trying.
EDIT2: Looks like you can also get it from the AVSIM library: http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=ftp&DLID=139690

That's true, as well as Australia and Oceania. There were two reasons:
- the tour is already very very long and multilegish
- the are few quality airport sceneries of these continents for FS9

And now let's see the report from LEG5.
Flight BOE005 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Karachi, Pakistan.

The Karachi Jinnah scenery is AES supported.
It is a payware addon by MSK Productions available at Simmarket.

If you want my frank opinion, the quality is average. If you plan to fly there only once, then think twice.
I did get it for the reason of having no other airport in the area. New Delhi from Imaginesim is only in the making.

Rafel,

I have been around forums for more time than I care to remember, but this is one on the best threads I have seen, keep up the great work....

One thing I would like to see, not now but at the end is a list of the scenery you used so that anyone else who fancies try to emulate your epic can have a go using the same scenery as you and get even more enjoyment out of the flight...

Well done again...and hurry up and do the next leg I can not wait....

Rafal,

I'm really enjoying your trip reports.

I notice you say that there are few quality airport sceneries Australia.  Have you checked out the VOZ freeware package for FS9?  It contains the whole continent of Australia, with all major airports modelled well.  The package was made by Orbx (before they were Orbx).

I'd love to see your tour head to Australia.

Regards,
Justin

Certainly, John. I am sure you have noticed I give detailed info on the used scenery addons at the end of each post.
If you mean a whole list at the very end of my trip then sure, why not. I will prepare something like that with pleasure.

Originally posted by JusJ JusJ wrote:

Of course, I used to be a great fan of VOZ. Australia is a place I've always been extremely fascinated by.
However, in today's standards, I would say the freeware FS9 VOZ airports are of a poor quality. Unlike the ground textures, which are excellent.
I still remember Arkitekt's masterpiece videos advertising this outstanding addon.
As for ORBX, it is FSX only of course, and I personally am not interested in using FSX.

Originally posted by lantirn lantirn wrote:

They are by default. Except for the fact that all ground textures have been enhanced by the excellent Ground Environment package.

Sorry for no LEG6 yet. Frankly I got stuck. It was going to be Paro, which is a great and challenging airport in the Himalayas.
And an excellent addon scenery by Thai Creations, available at Simmarket.
I was going to buy this addon. But life is life and it seems I have other more urgent expenses now.
So I am replanning this part of the tour. Most probably I will fly directly to Chiang Mai.
It is well over 4 hours and almost at the maximum range of a loaded 737-800 (1868 nm), so it will be a trip.
I'll do the flight tonight, tomorrow or on Sunday at the latest. So, see you guys in the next report...

One thing is actually flying this world tour, which of course, and by the looks of the pictures, must be joyfull and very giving for you personally, but for you to undertake the hard work that comes with sharing this whole adventure, is greatly appreciated!
