Windows User Access Control
You are probably aware that User Access Control (UAC) can block proper operation of addons and even FSX/P3D. We always strongly recommend that UAC be set to its lowest level. This improves system performance and stops issues with running FS and FS addons.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 UAC is easy to turn off (and keep turned off) by setting the associated slider to the lowest position. See this link for details: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-za/windows/turn-user-account-control-on-off#1TC=windows-7 Windows Update will sometimes reactivate UAC, so best practice is to regularly check its setting.
Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 present a real problem when it comes to UAC: UAC remains enabled when the UAC slider is set to NEVER NOTIFY. Based on user feedback, what follows may work to mitigate issues caused by UAC. Turning off UAC
\Windows \Program Data
You MUST install to a folder you create on your main (C:) drive or alternative separate drive.
This method WILL NOT completely disable UAC in Windows 8 or higher but will reduce its impact on applications.
1. Go to Control Panel - User Accounts - Change User Account Control Settings and in the box that appears set the slider to the lowest level (Never Notify). Then click OK and reboot.
2. Whenever you run a Flight1 Wrapper and/or any addon product installer, always right click the EXE file and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
3. Whenever you run any iFly software, FS9.exe, FSX.exe, P3D.exe, etc. right click the shortcut or executable and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.
4. If you want to permanently enable RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, right click a program's shortcut or executable and select PROPERTIES. Then select the COMPATIBILITY Tab and place a tick mark in the box which says RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Click APPLY then OK to save the setting. Windows 7 Windows 8 and higher:
